About the Role

Working alongside the Head Chef, you will play a key role in leading the kitchen team, maintaining exceptional food quality and creating an environment where people thrive. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who is passionate about cooking, enjoys developing others and takes pride in delivering consistently outstanding food.
Your Mission
You will support the Head Chef in creating a kitchen where quality, consistency and teamwork come together seamlessly.
By leading with integrity, coaching your team and maintaining exceptional culinary standards, you will help ensure every guest enjoys the memorable dining experience that defines Avli.
What You'll Be Doing
Culinary Leadership
Support the Head Chef in leading the daily operation of the kitchen across all sections.
Inspire, coach and develop the kitchen team while fostering a positive, collaborative culture.
Lead service with confidence, ensuring every dish is prepared and presented to brand standards.
Supervise the kitchen pass, coordinate service flow and ensure orders are delivered accurately and efficiently.
Share knowledge and support cross-training to build a versatile and high-performing team.
Food Quality & Operations
Ensure recipes, cooking techniques and presentation standards are consistently executed.
Taste, check and approve dishes before they leave the kitchen.
Maintain exceptional standards of food quality, freshness and consistency throughout every service.
Plan daily production and preparation to support smooth and efficient operations.
Monitor stock levels, ingredient quality and kitchen readiness to meet business demands.
Support menu development, seasonal specials and continuous culinary innovation alongside the Head Chef.
People & Team Development
Support recruitment, onboarding and ongoing training of kitchen team members.
Provide regular coaching, mentoring and constructive feedback to encourage continuous growth.
Foster a culture built on accountability, professionalism and mutual respect.
Assist with performance reviews, development plans and succession planning within the kitchen.
Lead by example, inspiring the team through your passion, work ethic and commitment to excellence.
Cost Control & Kitchen Performance
Assist in managing food costs, stock control and purchasing to achieve financial objectives.
Monitor inventory, minimise waste and implement efficient kitchen practices.
Support scheduling and labour planning to ensure the kitchen is appropriately staffed.
Identify opportunities to improve kitchen efficiency while maintaining exceptional quality.
Health, Safety & Compliance
Ensure full compliance with HACCP, food safety and hygiene regulations.
Maintain clean, organised and safe kitchen environments at all times.
Monitor equipment maintenance, cleaning schedules and operational compliance.
Ensure all ingredients are stored, handled and prepared according to company standards.
Promote a culture where safety, cleanliness and attention to detail are part of every shift.
What We're Looking For
Previous experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie within a premium restaurant environment.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams.
Excellent culinary knowledge across multiple kitchen sections.
Strong understanding of food safety, HACCP and kitchen operations.
Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
A calm and confident approach in a fast-paced service environment.
A genuine passion for hospitality, quality and continuous improvement.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.
