We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Commis Chefs to join our kitchen teams at tashas Melrose, celebrated for exceptional food, beautiful environments and genuine hospitality.
As a Commis Chef, you'll play an important role in supporting our culinary team while building your skills in a professional, fast-paced and inspiring kitchen. Working alongside experienced chefs, you'll learn the foundations of great cooking, contribute to the preparation of exceptional dishes and help create memorable experiences for every guest who walks through our doors.

Your Mission
You will support the kitchen team in delivering exceptional food while developing your culinary skills, confidence and knowledge.
Through dedication, curiosity and a commitment to excellence, you'll help ensure every service runs smoothly and every dish reflects the quality, care and attention to detail that define the tashas experience.
What You'll Be Doing
Food Preparation & Production
Assist with the preparation and cooking of menu items according to established recipes and brand standards.
Support chefs across different kitchen sections during preparation and service.
Prepare ingredients, mise en place and basic food items to ensure every service is set up for success.
Learn and apply professional cooking techniques, preparation methods and presentation standards.
Assist with quality checks to ensure consistency in flavour, presentation and portion sizes.
Support daily production schedules and kitchen preparation plans.
Kitchen Operations
Ensure ingredients are fresh, properly stored and used within their shelf life.
Assist with opening and closing procedures in line with operational standards.
Maintain clean, organised and efficient workstations throughout service.
Support stock rotation, storage and inventory management practices.
Operate kitchen equipment safely and responsibly under the guidance of senior chefs.
Contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen.
Quality & Brand Standards
Uphold the highest standards of food quality, consistency and presentation.
Take pride in preparing food that reflects the values and standards of the tashas brand.

Follow HACCP procedures and company standards at all times.
Maintain clean, organised and sanitised workstations, equipment and utensils.
Handle food products and cleaning materials safely and responsibly.
Ensure food is stored, prepared and handled according to food safety requirements.
Report maintenance issues, equipment concerns or safety risks promptly.
What We're Looking For
Previous kitchen experience is advantageous but not essential.
A genuine passion for food, cooking and hospitality.
A strong desire to learn and develop within a professional kitchen.
Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
